When I started researching lotions, I learned that as soon as you add water to something, you have to add a preservative, and lotions are merely watered-down creams. I think it's silly to pay for added water in a product, especially when it means a preservative must be added -- it adds cost and some people will now be allergic to the product. So that's why you won't find any lotions on our Web site. For those of you who use our soaps consistently, you will probably find that you don't need any additional moisturizer. But if you are unable to do that (perhaps you're using a commercial soap at work) and you need a moisturizer, we have body oil and body butter available for you. Both are preservative-free and colorant-free. Body oil works well for those with skin that is only slightly dry. It is made with light oils and is quickly absorbed into the skin. If it leaves your skin feeling oily at all, you've used too much -- it only takes a tiny amount. It works great as a massage oil if you use more. Body butter is made with shea butter, which is excellent for those with dry skin. When natural ingredients such as sugar and salt make such great exfoliators, it doesn't make sense to use anything else. Sugar scrubs simply exfoliate, while salt scrubs are reputed to draw impurities from the skin, which is why we put salt in our foot scrub. Our "light" sugar scrub is made with light, liquid oils, similar to our body oil, while our shea sugar scrub is made for those with really dry skin.
